Who, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and Ravi Shankar performed
For a lot, Monterey was the big break
For Otis Redding, it was his introduction to white music
Mash up of old and new genres was no accident
An effort to bring in distinct acts that usually would not appear together

Rock radio continues to thrive despite its shrinkage. Sales declining, downloading; despite ratings shrinkage, rock stations are thriving. Alternative rock stations are thriving. Big markets are LA, Houston and Philly. Markets entrenched with live and local personalities. Even these people like their Pandora and use the net, there is something about on air personalities.
Odd collaborations-Chaka Khan, Steven Tyler, Lou Redding and a Led Zeppelin song. Khan, top of her list. She wants to do duets and wants to do a Zep song with Tyler. ‘We just clicked. We were at Elton John’s party.’ Khan’s other ideas wants to collaborate with some artists by Jazz King’s tribute concert with Joni Mitchell. She will also be honored in New York at the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Deep Purple kicked off Summer tour before they go to Europe. When will they put out a new album? They have not been on hiatus but it has been six years. Controversey: should they release a proper album? Because of the state of the industry, would it hurt them? “Maybe I am a traditionalist….we can progress the music. The album is like capturing a moment in time”-Deep Purple
They will be playing the Beacon Theatre in NY.
Update on Vinnie Vincent-has been released on bond. Living on a guest house on the property. Vincent claims that he rescued the dogs and that one of the larger ones killed the others and put them in plastic containers. He was waiting for the weather to clear up. Went on to express his love for animals. A new website in the works.
